November 2012 Monthly Review

The weather outside is getting frightful, but the fire behind the mic was Oh. So. Delightful. It was standing room only yet again at the slam hosted by Enrique Garcia and Amy Briseño, and with Phoenix spit-fire Niccolea M. Nance returning to feature once more, the November 2012 Tucson Youth Poetry Slam was the place to be!

Niccolea, also known as Miouo, led a packed workshop scattering poets past the main tables, all getting a chance to learn from Miouo and each other. An amazing poet from Phoenix, Miouo is one of the first come-back features at the TYPS Demonstrating her ability to transport an audience through her complimentary contrasting styles of poetry!

The TYPSters also showed of the power of “youth” talent in amazing ways Saturday night. With familiar faces as well as always-welcome new ones showcasing the strength that these amazing poets gain from each other. Again, the Tucson Youth Poetry Slam demonstrates the power of poetry: healing, educating, connecting.

As is said, poetry is the closest distance between two humans – and the Tucson Youth Poetry Slam is the closest distance between these poets.

Huge congrats to this months winners!
